WAKNG WATCH SERVICE
24-HOUR SURVEILLANCE
24-HOUR SURVEILLANCE
What is a “Waking Watch Service”? A waking watch is essentially a 24-hour physical surveillance/monitoring service of any multiple occupancy building where previously established fire protection has been deemed to be “not suitable for purpose”. In this instance, our Clients often use our Waking Watch Service to provide protection and reassurance for occupants of the premises until remedial works have been completed to bring the site fire protection up to a recognised standard. The aim of a waking watch is to ensure there is sufficient warning in the event of a fire to support the evacuation strategies, providing support and care to the occupants of the premises.
Do we need a Waking Watch Service? This would be dependent on survey reports on the condition of your building (could be cladding or other external wall issues for instance) or your fire protection (may not be up to required standards), and your compliance to “The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005” which is mandatory legislation. What will be uppermost in your thoughts will be the safety of the occupants.
How does a Waking Watch Service operate? Our fully trained Staff will provide 24-hour patrols of your premises. The objective of a waking watch is to provide the earliest possible warning in the event of a fire, and to conduct a structured, organised, and efficient evacuation of the premises. Our Fire Marshalls will continuously patrol and monitor the site looking out – and disposing of – potential fire hazards (bin store areas building up with combustible materials for instance), providing reassurance to occupants, visitors, and contractors to the site.
What do we need to do next? Quite often, on identifying an issue at your premises, the need to install a waking watch is immediate. We can provide instant onsite support and assist you with formulating a detailed Fire Evacuation Plan swiftly and effectively, installing “emergency measures” until a structured plan can be put in place. Our English-speaking Staff are fully supported by our 24-hour Control Room, fully trained in Security with enhanced Fire Warden Training and hold first aid qualifications.
